Have you heard the phrase “The answer is within you”?
We often look outside ourselves, reading books or perhaps following the latest personal development or career experts to give us the secret ingredient to turning our lives around, when really, when it comes down to it, YOU are the one to create change. You are the one with the power to change absolutely every aspect of your life if you so desire.
I absolutely encourage you to read and watch as much as you can, following those whose mindsets you want to incorporate into your own life. We tend to ‘follow’ those whose messages resonates with us and I urge you to borrow from their wisdom, adopt their principles and mindset.
However. This gives you inspiration, but not results.
In working with clients I am finding quite often they don’t know what their version of their best life looks like and so don’t know how to translate those learning into changing their life. They haven’t really stopped to even think about what their dream life would like as they have been too busy being a wife, a mother, an employee, a friend but know they want a better future…. Sound familiar?
I’d like to invite you to dream….
I’d like you to imagine what’s possible…
The easiest way to do this is to start journaling, if you’re not already doing so.
That’s right! Start talking to yourself, you may be surprised about what YOU have to say!
I have journalled my whole life. I first discovered my love of journalling as an angst teenager in a ‘locked’ diary – you know the ones, that have the fancy lock on it sealing it shut but we all know they weren’t REALLY lockable (I’m sure my sisters had a peek every now and then!). I would lament the woes of my world as I struggled to find my sense of identity where privacy was a rare thing in a family of eight.
Journalling has carried me through the joys of my first love, and my first heart break; through the trials of being a first time wife and mum and also through my marriage breakdown. My journaling has kept me sane and enabled me to have a safe place to off load my thoughts without a filter, without needing approval or acceptance or being concerned of hurting someone’s feelings.
HOWEVER, so much more empowering is how journaling will enable you to tap into our own hopes, dreams and desires.
My journal has enabled to me to dream. To imagine a better life. To envision a better ME. To create a better me.
Ask yourself:
What does a breathtaking life look to me?
What does financial freedom mean to me?
How would my life be different if I was debt free?
These are all things you can journal about to help you form a picture of how you want your future to be. No matter what you journal about, writing helps to draw out answers to your life that is buried within you. Deep down you already know what’s right for you, you just need to allow your subconscious to bring it to the surface, and journaling enables that.
There are no rules around journaling, no special book or place required or minimum amount you need to write. Write a line, or ten. Some days you’ll right pages and others you will draw a blank. I personally am very tactile with my journals so am a bit fussy about the type of book I write in as well as the pen I use. Some people use a digital format. I also like to create a quiet space and light a candle. Use whatever feels right to you
A good place to start is at the end of every day write down 5 things you are grateful for and WHY. Writing down WHY helps you to connect with the reason why you are so grateful for the things in your life. And what you appreciate, appreciates so you will draw more of the same into your life.
Remember, Thoughts. Become. Things.
It’s difficult, no, IMPOSSIBLE to create a breathtaking life if you have no idea what that looks like.
I invite you to dream…. Your breathtaking life is yours for the taking. Please reach out and let’s start the journey together to create YOUR Wealthy Life!
